The Majorelle Garden in Marrakech, designed by Yves Saint Laurent had been on my fragrant locations list for years — a list first shared with me by my father, who sparked my lifelong love of scent and home fragrance.

In 2014 I visited the garden just after sunrise, when the garden was quiet and cool. Dew clung to the leaves, the iconic blue walls glowed softly, and the air carried delicate notes of orange blossom, soft jasmine and a gentle warmth of spice drifting in from the nearby souk.

It was peaceful. Restorative. A moment you want to hold onto.

Back in my studio, I wanted to recreate that atmosphere through luxury scented candles. After careful searching, I discovered a fragrance created by a British perfumer, inspired by a similar sense of renewal. Together, the blend captured exactly what I had experienced in the garden — luminous orange blossom, comforting mandarin tea, and subtle Moroccan spices that add depth and warmth without overwhelming.

From there, Sunrise was born. After extensive testing to ensure a clean burn and elegant scent throw, the collection expanded to include a candle, reed diffuser and room mist, all handcrafted as part of our artisan candles UK range.
